The Project
Connecting Russia and The Gambia Through Culture
The Gambia Project is a cultural and educational initiative developed by MIRIT to create meaningful connections between Russia and The Gambia through language, culture, education and human exchange. Over the course of two weeks, the project will introduce participants to Russian language, traditions, history, arts and everyday culture while creating opportunities for dialogue and mutual understanding. The initiative is designed as a space for learning, discovery and collaboration, bringing people together across cultures and creating connections that can continue beyond the event itself.
The Program
Two Weeks of Cultural Discovery
The program combines language learning, cultural activities, educational sessions and informal exchange to create an engaging introduction to Russian culture in The Gambia.
Russian Language
Introduction to the Russian language through practical lessons, everyday expressions, conversation and interactive activities.
Russian Culture & Traditions
Participants explore Russian traditions, customs, history, food, music, literature and everyday life through presentations and interactive cultural activities.
Arts & Creative Expression
Creative activities introduce participants to different aspects of Russian artistic and cultural expression while encouraging participants to share elements of Gambian culture in return.
Cultural Exchange
The project creates opportunities for Gambian and Russian cultural perspectives to meet through conversation, shared activities and community interaction.
Education & Dialogue
Educational sessions encourage curiosity, discussion and knowledge exchange, creating a space where participants can learn about Russia while sharing their own experiences and perspectives.
Community
The project brings participants together in an open and inclusive environment where new friendships, ideas and future collaborations can develop.
